Jerry Beverly
South Florida Director
Jerry Beverly grew up playing all types of sports and eventually specialized in football. He was introduced to Jesus Christ by his high school football coach Jay Jeafcoat in 1978, “I was a troubled youth and didn’t have a real healthy home environment, so my head football coach was the one that was a father figure, a huge inspiration to me and mentor.” Jerry is a product of FCA; he was the president in high school and college and went to all the FCA local leadership camps. Together with his coach, the first FCA huddle was started in his high school. Two years later his high school team won the state championship and, more importantly, God used FCA to create a revival throughout the school.
Jerry went on to play football at Troy University and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. He moved to Miami in 1993 where he worked at Florida International University (FIU) and Miami Dade College as a Life Skills Coordinator and athletics chaplain. He has coached football, baseball, and volleyball while raising his family and working in ministry in Miami for almost 30 years. Jerry returned to FCA 10 years ago as an Area Representative and was promoted to South Florida Director in 2020. He resides in Coral Gables with his wife, Joy.
